James Essex

Self Introduction

I grew up in Cambridge, UK until I was 18 which was when I moved to Cardiff (Wales) to study Communication Studies. Following my BA, I stayed in Wales to train as a primary school teacher. Then, in 2004, I arrived in Japan and began teaching English in a language school. From there, I moved into secondary school teaching and was also lucky enough to teach members of the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force and top-name athletes at the Japanese Olympic Committee. Seeking new challenges, I began teaching in universities six years ago. While not teaching, I am studying for a PhD in Applied Linguistics.
