The emergence of generative AI, especially ChatGPT, has called into question the nature of university education and research, including understanding what AI is, its technological and social possibilities and limitations, and determining how to deal with it as people and faculty. The university as an educational and research community is now being questioned. Information on these issues must be shared and discussed at great length through various university organizations such as the university-wide FD Committee, the university-wide Academic Affairs Committee, and the Aoyama Standard Education Organization, as well as through faculties and graduate schools, and information must be disseminated both inside and outside the university as necessary. In light of this situation, we have decided to send out the following minimum message to students that should be shared within the university under the current circumstances. We would like to ask for your cooperation in facing the ChatGPT and other generative AI, so that we can become a better university as an educational and research community.

For the time being, the use of ChatGPT and other generative AI in university education and research will be based on the instructions of the respective class instructors. However, it is not permitted to use sentences, calculation results, program source code, etc. generated by ChatGPT or other generative AI as if they were generated by oneself in university education or research. The university will continue to collect information on social trends including the development of generative AI, responses of higher education institutions in Japan and abroad, and opinions within the university, and will continue to review and consider its effective use and responses in education and research.

ChatGPT 等の生成系 AI の利用 学生向け周知について

生成系 AI、特に ChatGPT の出現により、大学としての教育・研究のあり方が問われることとなりました。AI とは何か、その技術的・社会的な可能性や限界を理解すること、人として・教員としてどのように向き合うべきかを判断することなど、教育・研究共同体としての大学が問われることとなりました。これらについては、全学 FD 委員会、全学教務委員会、青山スタンダード教育機構などの大学諸機関、学部・研究科を通じて情報共有を行い、大いに議論を重ね、必要に応じて学内外に情報発信をしていかなければなりません。
このような状況を踏まえつつ、現状における学内で共有すべき最低限のメッセージを以下の通り学生向けに発信することといたしました。
今後、ChatGPT 等の生成系 AI と向き合って、より良い教育・研究共同体としての大学となっていけるよう、ご協力よろしくお願い申し上げます。

ChatGPT 等の生成系 AI の利用について

大学の教育・研究における ChatGPT 等の生成系 AI の利用については、当面はそれぞれの授業担当教員の指示に基づくこととします。ただし、大学の教育・研究の場で、 ChatGPT 等の生成系 AI が生成した文章、計算結果、プログラムソースコード等を自分自身が生成したものとして使用することは許されることではありません。
なお、大学は、今後も継続的に生成系 AI の開発を含む社会の動向、国内外の高等教育機関の対応や学内での意見聴取等の情報収集を進め、その有効活用や教育・研究における対応の見直し・検討を続けていきます。
